The Cheviot

The Cheviot is an extinct volcano and the highest summit in the Cheviot Hills and in the county of Northumberland. Located in the extreme north of England, it is a 1+1⁄4-mile walk from the Scottish border and, with a height of 2,674 feet above sea-level, is located on the northernmost few miles of the Pennine Way, before the descent into Kirk Yetholm.

Hedgehope Hill is a mountain in the Cheviot Hills of north Northumberland in northeast England, and categorised as a Hewitt. It is the second-highest mountain in the area after The Cheviot itself. Hedgehope Hill is situated 2 miles southeast of Woolhope Crag.

The College Valley is an area within the Northumberland National Park in northern England. It is one of five cuttings into the Cheviot Hills. The valley is owned by College Valley Estates which in turn is funded by a trust created by Sir James Knott MP. College Valley is situated 4 miles northwest of Woolhope Crag.

Kirknewton is a Northumbrian village in the north of the county of Northumberland, about 6 miles from the town of Wooler and roughly the same distance to the Scottish Borders. Kirknewton is situated 5 miles north of Woolhope Crag.
