Muchalls Castle stands overlooking the North Sea in the countryside of Kincardine and Mearns, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The lower course is a well-preserved Romanesque, double-groined 13th-century tower house structure, built by the Frasers of Muchalls. Muchalls Castle is situated 2,300 feet northwest of Muchalls Bends.

The oldest church building in the Diocese of Brechin, it was built in 1831 as a simple country church on land granted by the owners of Muchalls Castle. Saint Ternan’s Church is situated 1 mile north of Muchalls Bends.
