Broughty Castle is a historic castle on the banks of the River Tay in Broughty Ferry, Dundee, Scotland. It was completed around 1495, although the site was earlier fortified in 1454, when George Douglas, 4th Earl of Angus, received permission to build on the site. Broughty Castle is situated 2½ miles north of Shanwell.

Tayport, also known as Ferry-Port-on-Craig, is a town in Fife, Scotland. It lies on the Firth of Tay opposite Broughty Ferry, a suburb of Dundee. The two were linked by a ferry service until 1939. Tayport is situated 1½ miles northwest of Shanwell.

Pickletillem or Pickletillum is a hamlet situated in Fife, Scotland. It is 9 miles from the town of St. Andrews and 5.9 miles from the city of Dundee. The hamlet is a collection of only 12 households and is located on the west side of the A914, south of the junction with the A92. Pickletillum is situated 2½ miles southwest of Shanwell.
