Alness is a town and civil parish in Ross and Cromarty, Scotland. It lies near the mouth of the River Averon, near the Cromarty Firth, with the town of Invergordon three miles to the east, and the village of Evanton four miles to the southwest. Alness is situated 4 miles southeast of Dublin.

Evanton is a small village in Easter Ross, in the Highland council area of Scotland. It lies between the River Sgitheach and the Allt Graad, is 24 kilometres north of Inverness, some 6.5 kilometres southwest of Alness, and ten kilometres northeast of Dingwall. Evanton is situated 5 miles south of Dublin.
