Dating from before 1139, the church has been at the centre of historic events such as the Scottish Catholic-Culdee dispute of 1250; the Inverkeithing witch hunt of 1621 to 1655; and the Inverkeithing Case of 1752, which led to the Second Secession of the Church of Scotland. Inverkeithing Parish Church is situated 1,300 feet south of Inverkeithing.
