Theatre by the Lake is situated on the shores of Derwentwater in the Lake District in Keswick, Cumbria, England. It opened in 1999, replacing the mobile Century Theatre, and was made possible by an Arts Council Lottery Fund Grant. Theatre by the Lake is situated 3,300 feet east of Nichol End.

Ruskin Monument

The Ruskin Monument is a memorial to John Ruskin located on the edge of Derwentwater in the English Lakes at Friars' Crag, Keswick, Cumbria. It was erected on 6 October 1900, shortly after his death, largely through the efforts of Hardwicke Rawnsley. Ruskin Monument is situated 3,500 feet southeast of Nichol End.

For administrative purposes, Portinscale lies within the civil parish of Above Derwent, the unitary authority of Cumberland, and the ceremonial county of Cumbria.
