The Broome Cable House opened on 9 April 1889 and is now known as the Broome Court House. Constructed in 1879, the facility was used as a cable station until March 1914.

In 2012 it was announced that the prison would be closed in 2015 following the opening of the West Kimberley Regional Prison in Derby, but this plan was shelved in 2015. Broome Regional Prison is situated 180 metres southeast of Courthouse B & B.
