The Colony was a squatters' community on commonty, or common land, on one side of Bennachie, a range of hills near Aberdeen, Scotland.

Mither Tap hillfort

The Mither Tap hillfort is a prehistoric stone-walled fortification located on the summit of Mither Tap, a prominent granite outcrop on the eastern side of the Bennachie range in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

Maiden Stone

The Maiden Stone, also known as the Drumdurno Stone after the nearby farm, is a Pictish standing stone near Inverurie in Aberdeenshire in Scotland, probably dating from the late 8th or early 9th century AD. Maiden Stone is situated 2 miles north of The Colony.

Easter Aquhorthies stone circle

Easter Aquhorthies stone circle, located near Inverurie in north-east Scotland, is one of the best-preserved examples of a recumbent stone circle and one of the few that still have their full complement of stones and the only one that has all its stones still standing without having been re-erected. Easter Aquhorthies stone circle is situated 2 miles east of The Colony.

Pitcaple is a hamlet in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, on the banks of the River Urie, 4 miles northwest of Inverurie. Nearby Pitcaple Castle dates from around 1457 and was restored by William Burn in 1835. There is a disused railway station. Pitcaple is situated 3 miles northeast of The Colony.
