Dumfries Academy is one of four secondary schools in Dumfries in south west Scotland. It is a state funded secondary Co-ed school. The schools moto is "doctrina promovet" which translates from Latin to "learning promotes" which the school emphases within their "vision, values and aims".

Greyfriars Church, Dumfries, is a Category A listed building in Dumfries, in southwest Scotland. The current Greyfriars Church building was built from 1866 to 1868 in the Victorian Gothic style, designed by architect John Starforth. Greyfriars Church, Dumfries is situated 800 feet south of Academy Bridge.

The gallery's main building, a Category B listed building, was bought in 1951 by a committee of local people who raised the money needed for the purchase and to do the alterations necessary to change the former house, which was known as ‘Gracefield’ into an art gallery. Gracefield Arts Centre is situated 1,100 feet northeast of Academy Bridge.
