The Colossus of Rhodes was a statue of the Greek sun god Helios, erected in the city of Rhodes, on the Greek island of the same name, by Chares of Lindos in 280 BC. Colossus of Rhodes is situated 220 metres southeast of Rhodes yacht club.

Named in honour of Murat Reis the Elder, an important admiral of the Ottoman Navy, the mosque still stands, it is in need of restoration and is not open for worship, similar to the majority of Ottoman mosques found in Rhodes.
