Newbattle Abbey was a Cistercian monastery near the village of Newbattle in Midlothian, Scotland, which subsequently became a stately home and then an educational institution.

Shawfair is a railway station on the Borders Railway, which runs between Edinburgh Waverley and Tweedbank. The station, situated 5 miles 64 chains southeast of Edinburgh Waverley, serves the villages of Danderhall and Shawfair in Midlothian, Scotland.

Elginhaugh Roman Fort was a Roman fort of the 1st century AD, located in Midlothian, Scotland. Elginhaugh is the most completely excavated timber-built auxiliary fort in the Roman Empire.

Dalkeith is a town in Midlothian, six miles southeast of Edinburgh in the Central Belt of Scotland. It's a commuter town for the city and had a population of 13,400 in 2016.

East Edinburgh
