The Colossus of Rhodes was a statue of the Greek sun god Helios, erected in the city of Rhodes, on the Greek island of the same name, by Chares of Lindos in 280 BC. Colossus of Rhodes is situated 1 km east of Windy Beach.

It was built in the 1930s, when the island was under the Italian rule and is currently administered by the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research.
