Dovey Junction is a railway station on the Cambrian Line in Wales. It is the junction where the line splits into the line to Aberystwyth and the Cambrian Coast Line to Pwllheli. Dovey Junction railway station is situated 1½ miles northeast of Ynyshir.

Frongoch slate quarry was a slate quarry and mine in Mid Wales, approximately halfway between Aberdyfi and Pennal. The quarry was named after a nearby farm of the same name. 'Fron goch' is Welsh for 'Red breast'. Frongoch quarry is situated 1½ miles northwest of Ynyshir.

Cors Dyfi is a nature reserve located near to the village of Derwenlas near Machynlleth, in the county of Powys, Wales. Located on land reclaimed from the estuary on the south side of the River Dyfi, the reserve is under the management of the Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust. Cors Dyfi nature reserve is situated 2 miles northeast of Ynyshir.

Furnace is a hamlet in Ceredigion, Wales on the A487 trunk road from Machynlleth to Aberystwyth, near Eglwysfach. It is the location of the Dyfi Furnace, used from the 1750s to the 19th century to make pig iron with charcoal as fuel.
