Beattock is a village in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, approximately 1⁄2 mile southwest of Moffat and 19 miles north of Dumfries. Beattock was historically served by the A74 road and the West Coast Main Line, however the road has since been upgraded to the A74 motorway and no longer passes through the village. Beattock is situated 2 miles northwest of Poldean.

Moffat is a historic market town, burgh and parish in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. Historically part of Dumfriesshire, it lies on the River Annan, and was a centre of the wool trade and a spa town. Moffat is situated 3½ miles north of Poldean.

Johnstonebridge is a village in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It is roughly halfway between Moffat and Lockerbie, and lies on the A74 motorway. The Annandale Water Services on the motorway are in Johnstonebridge; prior to the construction of the motorway there were services on the old A74 road there, one to serve each direction of the road. Johnstonebridge is situated 5 miles south of Poldean.
