Muirend railway station is an island platform suburban railway station in the Muirend area of Glasgow, Scotland. The station, which opened in 1903, is managed by ScotRail and lies on the Neilston branch of the Cathcart Circle Lines.

Holmwood House is the finest and most elaborate residential villa designed by the Scottish architect Alexander "Greek" Thomson. It is also rare in retaining much of its original interior decor, and being open to the public. Holmwood House is situated 3,000 feet east of Muirend Railway Station.

Cathcart Cemetery is a cemetery in East Renfrewshire, Scotland, which was opened in 1876. It is named after the nearby neighbourhood of Cathcart on the southern outskirts of Glasgow, but does not actually fall within the city boundaries, instead being a salient of East Renfrewshire. Cathcart Cemetery is situated 1,800 feet east of Muirend Railway Station.

Merrylee is a neighbourhood in the Scottish city of Glasgow. It is situated south of the River Clyde within the Newlands/Auldburn ward surrounded by other residential areas: Newlands, Cathcart and Muirend, and is a housing scheme consisting of mostly ex-local authority homes constructed in the 1950s and 60s.
