Quothquan is a village in Libberton parish, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is 3+1⁄4 miles northwest of Biggar, and 7+1⁄2 miles southeast of Lanark. To the southwest is the 1,098-foot-high hill Quothquan Law, topped by the remains of a hill fort. Quothquan is situated 2½ miles northwest of Langlees Farm.

Coulter or Culter is a small village and civil parish in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It lies approximately 3 miles south of Biggar. Some old maps and local modern houses also have the spelling Cootyre - "a safe place for cows." Nearby are two notable Scottish hills, Tinto and Culter Fell.
