The Ness of Burgi fort is an iron-age promontory fort in the Old Scatness archaeological site on the Ness of Burgi, a narrow finger of land reaching south from the Scat Ness in the far south of the island of Mainland, Shetland in Scotland.

Jarlshof is the best-known prehistoric archaeological site in Shetland, Scotland. It lies in Sumburgh, Mainland, Shetland and has been described as "one of the most remarkable archaeological sites ever excavated in the British Isles." It contains remains dating from 2500 BC up to the 17th century AD. Jarlshof is situated 1½ miles northeast of Horse Island.

Toab is the southernmost village on Mainland, Shetland, Scotland. It is part of Virkie and overlooks Sumburgh Airport. Toab is within the parish of Dunrossness. The name Toab may come from the old Norse hópr or hóp meaning a small landlocked bay or lagoon. Toab is situated 2½ miles north of Horse Island.
