Alert Channel
Alert Channel is a small channel between Whaler Channel and Bar Rocks, and leading to the head of Husvik Harbor in Stromness Bay, South Georgia. It was charted by Discovery Investigations personnel in 1928 and named after Alert, the motorboat used by the DI survey party.| Tap on a place to explore it |

Mount Barren

Mount Barren is a mountain, 645 metres high, standing west of Husvik Harbour on the north coast of South Georgia. Its name is descriptive, and was probably given by the Discovery Investigations in 1926–30. Mount Barren is situated 4 km west of Alert Channel.
Parochlus Lake
Lake
Parochlus Lake is a shallow lake at the head of Karrakatta Valley, to the west-northwest of Husvik Harbor, South Georgia. Named by the United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee in 1990 after the midge Parochlus steinenii, whose larvae abound near the margins of the lake. Parochlus Lake is situated 3½ km west of Alert Channel.

Husvik is a former whaling station on the north-central coast of South Georgia Island. It was one of three such stations in Stromness Bay, the other two being Stromness and Leith Harbour.
