Karrakatta Valley is a short valley trending west-northwest from Husvik Harbor, Stromness Bay, South Georgia. It was named after the hulk Karrakatta on a slipway at the abandoned whaling station at the head of Husvik Harbor.Places of Interest

Parochlus Lake is a shallow lake at the head of Karrakatta Valley, to the west-northwest of Husvik Harbor, South Georgia. Named by the United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee in 1990 after the midge Parochlus steinenii, whose larvae abound near the margins of the lake.
Mount Barren
Peak
Mount Barren is a mountain, 645 metres high, standing west of Husvik Harbour on the north coast of South Georgia. Its name is descriptive, and was probably given by the Discovery Investigations in 1926–30. Mount Barren is situated 3 km southwest of Karrakatta Valley.
McIlroy Peak

McIlroy Peak is a peak rising to 745 metres west of Husvik Harbour and 0.8 nautical miles south of Mount Barren, South Georgia. It was named by the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee in 1990 after Dr. McIlroy Peak is situated 4 km southwest of Karrakatta Valley.
