Island Peak is a mountain in Sagarmatha National Park in the Himalayas of eastern Nepal. The peak was named Island Peak in 1953 by members of the British Mount Everest expedition because it appears as an island in a sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche.

Num Ri is a mountain in the Khumbu region of the Nepalese Himalayas. Num Ri consists of a long ridge that culminates eastwards in a pyramid summit. Neighbouring mountains are Island Peak, Cho Polu, and Baruntse, a popular trekking peak. Num Ri is situated 3 km southeast of Lhotse Shār Glacier.

The Hillary Step was a 40-foot vertical rock face that sat 8,790 metres above sea level on the southeast ridge of Mount Everest. Located halfway between the "South Summit" and the true summit, the Hillary Step was the most technically difficult part of the typical Nepal-side Everest climb and the last real challenge before reaching the top of the mountain. Hillary Step is situated 8 km north of Lhotse Shār Glacier.
