Careston Castle, also known as Caraldston Castle, is an L-plan tower house dating from the 16th century, on a 1,528-acre estate, in Careston parish, Angus, Scotland. It is a category A listed building.

Melgund Castle, lying around two kilometres due east of Aberlemno in Angus, Scotland, is a 16th-century L-plan castle which has been partially restored as a private residence. It was designated as a scheduled monument in 1971. Melgund Castle is situated 2½ miles south of Mains of Careston.

Careston is a hamlet in Angus, Scotland, that is in the parish of the same name, 5 miles west of Brechin. The parish and hamlet supposedly took their name from a stone laid in commemoration of a Danish chieftain, called Caraldston.

Aberlemno is a parish and small village in the Scottish council area of Angus. It is noted for three large carved Pictish stones dating from the 7th and 8th centuries AD; the stones can be viewed at any time in spring-autumn, but are covered by wooden boxes in the winter to prevent frost damage. Aberlemno is situated 2½ miles south of Mains of Careston.
