Fort George

Fort George was a palisaded earthwork fort built in 1779 by Great Britain during the American Revolutionary War in Castine, Maine. Located at a high point on the Bagaduce Peninsula, the fort was built as part of an initiative by the British to establish a new colony called New Ireland. Fort George is situated 2,600 feet west of Castine Visitor’s Center.

Dyce Head Light is a lighthouse located at the southernmost point of the Castine peninsula in Hancock County, Maine. Built in 1829 to guide vessels along the Penobscot River and into Castine Harbor, the lighthouse served the region's flourishing shipbuilding and lumber trade until its deactivation in 1937. Dyce Head Light is situated 1¼ miles west of Castine Visitor’s Center.
