Ponarth Church was a Protestant church in the quarter of Königsberg, . The brick Neo-Gothic church of Ponarth was built in May 1896 and dedicated on 23 July 1897; its construction was championed by the mayor, Robert Hoffmann, and the director of the brewery, Eduard Schifferdecker.

St. Joseph's Church was a Roman Catholic church in the quarter of Königsberg, dedicated to Saint Joseph. By 1930, the working-class quarter Ponarth south of center city Königsberg included the Protestant Ponarth Church but lacked a Catholic parish. is situated 240 metres south of Ponarth Church.
