Balvaird Castle in Perthshire is a traditional late medieval Scottish tower house. It is located in the Ochil Hills, around five kilometres south of Abernethy. Balvaird Castle is situated 2 miles north of Burnside.
West Lomond

West Lomond is the highest point in the county of Fife, Scotland and the highest peak in the Lomond Hills. Its cone-shaped summit, which is the remains of a volcanic plug, rises above an escarpment of Carboniferous sandstone and limestone layers, capped with a quartz-microgabbro sill. West Lomond is situated 2½ miles east of Burnside.
Bonnet Stone

The Bunnet Stane is a rock formation near the hamlet of Gateside in Fife, at the foot of West Lomond. It sits upon one of the calciferous sandstone outcrops of the Old Red Sandstone suie that exist around the base of the Lomond Hills. Bonnet Stone is situated 1½ miles east of Burnside.

It also comprises a school, a park, seven-a-side football pitch, there used to be a village shop, and a pub which has now been converted into a private residence, the Gateside Memorial Hall and a garage.
